| Who are we? The AFCWA is a veteran / reenactment / commemorative / living history group organized, where feasible, along standard military protocol and procedures. Authenticity is a primary but not our most important goal although we strive to achieve authentic recreation whenever possible. Based on previous personal reenacting experiences, it is our belief that we, as reenactors, have the moral obligation to present our impression in a serious and respectful manner. New members, therefore, will be required to full-fill all uniform, equipment and weapons guidelines as well as 'deportment' guidelines in order to look and act like a soldier from this time period. All members should be serious about their individual impression and strive to maintain a respectful understanding of authenticity and history. Brief History of the AFCWA The Allied Forces Cold War Association (AFCWA) was formed on 1 May 2005 - Cold War Victory Day - as an independent, international group of Allied Force Cold War veterans who served between the years 1945-1991 against the forces of global Communism. It was the only Cold War veterans group that allowed full membership to NATO, SEATO and Cold War allies around the globe (including Israeli, Rhodesian and El Salvadoran veterans) who fought sustained, sometimes internecine proxy wars against Communist insurgents. In 2009, the organization changed its mission statement to historical living history focusing on the French Indochina War (1946-1954) and the Vietnam War (1955-1975), two seminal conflicts that were "hot wars" within the context of the Cold War; however, it maintains a viable and dedicated Cold War Veterans assocation with the establishment of the AFCWA Cold War Veterans Council in November, 2009. Membership on the council is limited only to Cold War Veterans who served between the years 1945- 1991 with U.S., NATO, SEATO or non-treaty affiliated nations. Today, the AFCWA is a fully fledged, operational organization that exists to educate the general public about the sacrifice made by Allied Force Cold Warriors during the global struggle against Communism. Mission Statement The general mission statement of the Allied Forces Cold War Association (AFCWA) is:
contributions of Vietnamese, U.S., French, French Union, Foreign Legion and loyal tribal forces (Ta'i, Muong, Meo, Montagnards, Hmong) that fought Communist forces in Southeast Asia is paramount importance. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in honoring these brave Cold War warriors. The secondary mission is the establishment of the AFCWA Cold War Veterans Council. The objective of the veterans council is to advocate on behalf of the Cold War Service Medal and the health and welfare of Cold War Veterans issues. Monthly Activities In an effort to increase understanding of the First and Second Indochina Wars and the contributions of all veterans we participate in the following activities.
